Medical Alert Necklace Panic Button - Nylon help button

What is a Help or Panic button?

The most important component included with the First Response Medical Alert System is the wireless help button.  The wireless help or panic button is designed to be worn at all times allowing the user to activate the base station console and signal that an emergency situation has occurred and help is needed.

The wireless help button is a little bigger then a quarter and about as thick as a pack of matches.  It is completely waterproof and should be worn at all times including swimming, bathing and showering.

How should the Help Button be worn?

Panic Button bracelet - wireless help buttonThe First Response System includes one wireless help button with three different options to wear it.  The most common way to wear the button is on the adjustable nylon necklace.  This gives the user the ability to press it with either hand during an emergency.  The second most popular way to wear the wireless help button is on the adjustable nylon wrist band.  The wrist band is very comfortable and is panic button belt clip model perfect for people who are most comfortable with wearing watches.   The final option to wear the help button is with a belt clip.  This method is only recommended if it is clipped to a belt, not just a piece of clothing and may be preferred by people who are must comfortable wearing cell phones or pagers on their belt.

How do you activate the Medical Alarm using the Help Button?

In order to properly signal that an emergency has occurred the user most press the wireless help button for about two seconds or until the red light appears.  The red light is located just above the button, when the light is activated you can rest assure the base station console has been notified.

The one major misconception with the button is that you will hear the central station operator voice through the button itself.  The speaker that is used to communicate with our central station operator is located in the base station console only.  The user will not be able to vocally communicate by talking into the button.  If vocal communication is not possible because the user is out of voice range from the base station or they are unable to speak, our operators will immediately begin to dispatch the appropriate personnel to provide immediate help to the user.

Where can I use the Panic Button? How do I maintain it so it works properly?

Panic Button works up to 400FT from the medical Alarm base stationThe wireless help button may be used 400ft from the base station console.  That is greater then a football field of distance in each direction from the base station console.  This means the button will be able to signal for help inside and outside of the house even around the surrounding property.  It is possible the range can slightly decrease depending on the construction materials used to build the house or apartment.  It is recommended to check the range of the furthest location the user spends time at during the day when first setting up the system.  Doing this will assure the user they will be able to signal help even if they are far away from the house.

The user is not required to change the battery in the wireless help button.  The battery will last up to 3-5 years.  When the battery needs to be changed the user will be notified and a new button will be sent to replace it.  The user should never attempt to change the battery on their own.  If the user notices the red light does not appear when the button is pushed they should contact customer service immediately to receive a replacement.
